About the Bicycle Rated Roads

High Ease of Use (green): Easy to use; lower traffic volumes, lower traffic speeds, smooth road surface, wider lanes or wide shoulders.

Moderate Ease of Use (yellow):  Good to use; low to moderate traffic volumes, moderate traffic speeds, may have wide outer lane or shoulder, surface may not be as smooth.

Low Ease of Use (red):  Difficult to use; higher traffic volumes, traffic speeds higher, narrow lanes.

Not rated (gray):  The Williamson County Bicycle Map was developed to aid bicyclists in finding their way safely through Williamson County. The “ease of use” scores for roadways on this map are based on the Bicycle Suitability Criteria for State Roadways in Texas, a report of the Texas Transportation Institute at the Texas A&M University System.
