Basic  Toolbar Functions

Zoom In:  With one click of the mouse, enlarges the map to display greater detail.

Zoom Out:  With one click of the mouse, shrinks the map to show a larger area but less detail.

Pan: Moves the map like a sheet of paper as you drag it with the mouse. Does not zoom.

Measure Distance: Measures the mileage when you draw a line from one point to another on the map view, for example the distance from one feature to another. Look for the mileage in the lower left hand corner of the screen.

Select Features: Select this button to begin exploring scenic features. See "How to View the Scenic Features" for more details.

Create a Bike Route: Select this button to begin creating your own routes. See "How to Create a Bike Route" for more details.

Initial Extent: Brings the map back to the size it was when the the screen was first opened.

Layers: Data features and attributes. Check marks make the layers 'active', or visible, on the map.

Overview: Toggles overview map off/on.

Legend: Description of the data layers and their symbols on the map.

Refresh: Refreshes the map and displays any new active (checked) layers.
